Here is a comprehensive Strategic Tetrahedron (ST) Model Matrix for analyzing the seven types of states—non-states, pre-states, quasi-states, proto-states, failed states, weak states, and strong states. Each level of the tetrahedron (Territory, Population, Infrastructure, Economy, Defence & Public Order, Government, and Leadership) is assessed across these state types.

Key Observations:

  1. Non-States: Tribal or kin-based societies with no movement toward formal statehood.
  2. Pre-States: Transitional entities beginning to develop the foundations of a state but remain fragmented.
  3. Quasi-States: Have some elements of statehood but are incomplete and lack full sovereignty or legitimacy.
  4. Proto-States: On the path to becoming a full state, with growing governance and institutional control.
  5. Failed States: Lost control over most or all the Strategic Tetrahedron’s components; collapse of legitimacy.
  6. Weak States: Functioning states with persistent vulnerabilities that prevent them from achieving resilience.
  7. Strong States: Balanced and resilient Strategic Tetrahedrons that can withstand external and internal pressures.

This matrix provides a structured lens to assess the progress and challenges of various state types, highlighting where interventions may be needed to foster stability and development.
